595 students from Grade Two to Six from five elementary schools were studied in order to find out how their parents influenced them on their sport participation based on the theory of parental socialization by Eccles'. The purpose was to determine whether the children' s perceptions quality of parental involvement had a mediate function between children's sport expectancy-value beliefs and sport behavior. Mediation was tested by using linear regression analysis. The result showed that children's sport expectancy-value beliefs had significant influence on children's perceptions quality of parental involvement; children's perceptions quality of parental involvement had significant influence on sport behavior. Ability expectancy had significant influence on sport behavior, but its effects were diminished when specific aspects of children's perceptions quality of parental involvement were included in the predictive equations. It suggested that specific aspects of children's perceptions quality of parental involvement me- diate the relationship between children's sport expectancy-value beliefs and sport behavior.
