摘  要:泰戈尔是20世纪初东方文化的代表人物;周作人是中国现代著名作家。在中印两国现代文化交流史上,泰戈尔与周作人曾有过一段神交:一次是在中国"五四"新文化运动中,泰戈尔是周作人批判封建礼教的靶子;一次是在1924年泰戈尔访华前后,周作人因自身的复杂而对泰戈尔的态度亦变得复杂多变。通过探讨周作人对泰戈尔的误读及其泰戈尔观的丰富内涵及原因,不但有益于我们认识泰戈尔与中国现代思想文化的复杂关系,而且可以使我们更具体、细致地了解周作人思想复杂性的一些特质和原因。Rabindranath Tagore was a representative writer of the Oriental cul- ture in the early 20th century ; Zhou Zuoren was one of the famous writers in mod- em China. In the modern cultural history of China and India, Tagore and Zhou Zuoren were spiritually connected for a short period of time for some reasons. Firstly, in the New Culture Movement, Tagore became one target which Zhou Zuoren used to criticize Chinese feudalism. Secondly, before and after Tagore's visit to China in 1924, Zhou Zuoren, due to his ideological complexity, his atti- tude to Tagore also became complicated and changeable. To explore Zhou Zuoren' s misreading of Tagore and his complicated view on Tagore, it is not only beneficial to our understanding of the complex relationship between Tagore and some modern Chinese intellectuals, but also helpful for us to understand Zhou Zuoren' s ideological complexity and some of its features and causes.
