Domestic wastewater was treated by pilot test of A/O biological phosphorus removal process and fast starting-up technology was studied. The results showed that divert 45% of the influent into the aerobic stage at initial stage of starting was beneficial to inhibiting nitrification/denitrification and accelerating the enrichment of phosphate accumulating organisms. After 3 d of step-feed,nitrification/denitrification can be inhibited significantly, with a low influent and effluent ammonification rate of 26.82% and nitrification rate of 8.98%.However,long term of step-feed could lead to high COD loading into aerobic tank and filamentous sludge bulking. The sludge bulking would be recovered after step-feed was canceled, and there was little effect on the A/O system.Controlling the load and step-feed was proved to be beneficial to the starting-up of A/O biological phosphorus removal process. After the system was running for 24 d,the removal rate of TP reached 90% and TP concentration in effluent was below 0.5 mg/L.
