失语的女性:艾迪·本德伦形象之解读

摘　　要：许多评论家认为威廉·福克纳是一位男性意识极强的作家,这尤其体现在他对女性人物的塑造上。本文从社会性别的研究角度分析《我弥留之际》中轴心人物艾迪.本德伦被塑造为失语的、孤独的、否定语言及抗拒母性的女性的原因,认为她是美国南方社会文化观念的产物。这证明福克纳既不同于其他男性意识较强的男性作家,又不同于女性主义者对女性的诠释。Many critics think that William Faulkner＇s depiction of women characters shows that he is a male chauvinist. This paper analyzes, from the perspective of the gender study, the reasons why Addle Bundren was characterized as a voiceless, lonely woman, distrusting language and negating her maternity, hence showing that she is the product of the Southern American cultural conception. This proves that William Faulkner is neither a male chauvinist like some other male writers, nor is his interpretation of the women characters the same with that of some feminists.
