A simulation experiment research of the application of passive microwave remote sensing technology to the seismic prediction was carried out for rocks of different lithologic charasters. The experiment was carried out under loading condition during the isothermal process. The experiment results that the microwave radiation energy of the rock changes obviously with the change of its stress state, These changes are caused completely by stress and has nothing to do with temperature. So the stress state of the medium and the microwave radiation energy changes of the medium are linked up directly in physics. The discovery establishes the physical foundation and provides the experimental basis for the observation of the stress field distribution on the earth surface layer and seismic prediction with passive microwave remote sensing technology. Two physical mechanisms of predicting earthquake with passive microwave remote sensing technology are put forward in the article, i. e. heat energy excitation mechanism and mechanical energy excitation mechanism. A method used to infer medium stress state and temperature state from passive microwave remote sensing detection is given in the article.
