[Objective ] To investigate the effects of Fructus lycii on the in-vitro growth of cervical cancer Hela cells. [Method ] He- la cells were treated with different concentrations of the decoction of Fructus lycii, and its effects on the adhesion and migration ability of Hela cells were determined by the cell-matrix adhesion assay and wound healing. The cell proliferation assay and Flow Cytometer were used to detect the inhibitory effects and the change of growing cycle. [Result ] Compared with control groups, the adhesive ratio of Hela cells treated with 5.0mg/mL Fructus lycii reduced ( P 〈 0. 01 ) and the migration ability of Hela cells became weaker ( P 〈 0. 01 ) . The cell proliferation assay showed that Fructus lycii inhibited the growth of Hela cells effectively and the inhibited radio reached up to 84. 88% (P 〈 0. 01 ), and the inhibit function of Fructus lycii to Hela cells showed an obvious relationships of time-effectiveness and does-effec- tiveness. The result of flow cytometry showed that Fructus Lycii could block the cell cycle at S phase. [Conclusion ] Fructus lycii could in- hibit the ability of adhesion, migration and proliferation of Hela ceils, and it also changed the cycle of the Hela cells.
