摘　　要：麦考密克是一位具有创新精神的美国外交史学家。他比较早地对美国外交史学整体状况进行了评估,力陈其中的弊病,提出发展方向,并大胆进行创新实践。他倡导的"合作主义"综合范式,以及对"世界体系论"的改造和借鉴,都对美国外交史研究方法创新做出了贡献。他运用世界体系论对冷战期间的美国外交政策加以分析,得出了不同以往的新看法,并对美国霸权的兴衰进行了描述和大胆预测。Thomas J. McCormick is a historian famous for innovative capability, who early assessed the state of the American diplomatic history, charging its weaknesses and advancing the agenda for the profession. McCormick＇s delineation of corporatism and world - system approach are special contributions to the methodological innovation. He drawn some new views from his exercising world - system approach to America＇s foreign policy during the Cold War, meanwhile incisively expounded and forecasted the rise and fall of American hegemony.
