In Louise Erdrich, the Christian religious features are combined with native oral tradition to form a hybridized religious mechanism, which has successfully defined a hybridized literary identity in terms of religious structure. The hybridized religious technique is rooted in Native American tradition. It is not only a simple mixture of various perspectives and languages, but also has constructed a hybridized representational model, which helps to create a vivid native religion with its own subjectivity. It is resistant in essence and refuses to be assimilated by white American ideology. In the process of creating the literary significance of its own, the hybridized religious form also encourages resistance to and subversion of hegemonic cultural control of the white Americans. Yet, Louise Erdrich supersedes the resurrection of traditional Native American tribal spirit by interweaving Christianity into her reconstructive discourse, which, together with the subversion of the hegemonic religious structure laid by the Bible, is characteristic of her religious hybridization techniques. Similar to the cultural efforts of religious recreation, the religious hybridization constructed in Louise Erdrich's literary world reinforces the emotional and spiritual connections among the Native Americans in contemporary times.
