摘　　要：基于GIS的区域专题地图的制作,是实现区域地理信息可视化的一种重要手段.用该方法编制的区域专题地图,具有"主题鲜明、图面美观、制作简单、经济实用"等特点,应用十分广泛.以ArcGIS 9.3软件作为处理平台,以《重庆市人口密度图》的制作为例,介绍了从数据收集、矢量化、属性数据输入与处理直至整饰成图、地图输出的整个专题地图制作的主要过程,以期为编制区域专题地图提供一定参考.Regional thematic map producing based on GIS,is an important means of achie- ving regional geographical information visualization. Regional thematic map features ＂theme clear, drawing beautiful, easy-making, economical and practical＂. It has been widely used in many fields. ArcGIS 9.3 software has been used in this article as a processing platform for introducing the process of making the map of population density in Chongqing. Main process of making Re- gional thematic map including： data collection, vector, attribute data input until map output, has been described. Aim at providing a reference for the formulation of regional thematic maps.
