Experiment was simulated which maize was planted in degraded potting soil, setting treatments of CaCl2 applied at five levels(5,10,20,40,80 mmol/L),to investigate the effects of exogenous calcium on maize growth and nutrition uptake in mine area under arid-stress.The results show that fertilizing proper exogenous calcium concentration can significantly improve nutrient absorption, and be beneficial to maize growth in degraded soil of mine area. When the concentration of CaCl2 fertilized is less than 20 mmol/L,cumulated amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in maize increase with an increase of exogenous calcium levels.Using CaCl2 with 20 mmol/L can significantly improve the biomass, relative water content and SPAD of the maize seedling;N and P cumulated amounts in aerial parts and root parts of maize have significantly differences compared with other treatments. When the concentration of CaCl2 fertilized is equal or greater than 40 mmol/L,the concentrations of N and P decrease with the rising of exogenous calcium levels. However, higher exogenous calcium concentration damages the maize ion dynamic equilibrium, and causes harm to the growth of maize seeding when fertilizing CaCl2 with 80 mmol/L.
