相似的命运 不同的觉醒——《一双丝袜》与《庭院中的女人》主人公自主意识觉醒的对比分析

摘　　要：凯特·肖邦的《一双丝袜》和赛珍珠的《庭院中的女人》取材于不同文化国度女性的日常生活体验。两部作品分别通过刻画女性在家庭责任与自我实现的矛盾中的挣扎与觉醒,揭示了不同时代和社会文化中女性被压抑与束缚的共同命运。在消费文化盛行的美国,桑姆斯太太的非理性欲望使她获得了短暂的自我实现与满足,而在同样处于转型年代的中国,一家之主的吴太太则在传统思想和西方价值观的融合中获得了重生。中西妇女对责任与自由的权衡虽然内涵有别,但她们的觉醒历程有助于读者加深对不同文化下女性追求自由和独立的理解,有助于我们正确认识女性自主与自由的复苏与重建。Based on the daily life experience in different cultures,A Pair of Silk Stockings by Kate Chopin and Pavilion of Women bay Pearl S. Buck both depicted women＇s struggle and awakening in dealing with the contradiction between family responsibility and self realization, revealing the common heritage of women＇s being suppressed in different periods and under different backgrounds. Mrs. Sommers’s brief self-satisfaction was inspired by the consuming desire,while Madame Wu acquired her renascence in the integration of Chinese traditions and western values. Although women in two cultures form different views toward responsibility and freedom,the comparative study of the two heroines’ awakening process is definitely a contribution to a profound understanding of women ’s reconstruction and pursuit of freedom and independence in different cultures.
