Objective. To evaluate the value of cine segment technique to reducing radiation dose in abdominal CT examination. Materials and Methods. 38 patients performed abdominal CT scans were randomly divided into two groups according to the order of visiting the doctors. 20 patients in Group A underwent examination of spiral scans with 120 kV, Smart-mA and Noise Index= 8; while in group B, 18 patients underwent examination by cine segment scan with 120 kV, Smart-mA, Noise Index=8. Patients in both group received plain scans and enhenced scan respectively and the image quality scores, noise levels and radiation close in both groups were compared. Results. There were no significant differences between the arterial and venous phase images quality scores, and no differences between image quality and noise levels in both groups in plain scans (P〉0.05); The noise lekets were significat qifferences imlosre grous wlien enlienied (P〈0.01). About 47% of the radiation dose was reduced in Group B than in Group A, which had statistical different (P〈0.01). Conclusion. Cine segment scanning can not only guarantee the image qualities but effectively reduce the radiation dose in abdominal CT examinations.
