摘  要:诺贝尔文学奖获得者威廉·福克纳是美国南方文艺复兴时期的文坛巨擘。《献给艾米丽的一朵玫瑰》是其短篇代表作之一。文章中运用了大量的象征手段,通过对主人公艾米丽生活的回忆,生动展现了美国南方社会变革之中的冲突,旧制度和新势力之间的碰撞。本文的关注点集中在文中艾米丽的房子这一意象,试图用亨利·勒菲弗尔的空间生产理论视角,来解读房子这一意象的象征含义。空间生产理论认为,空间是人类主体的有意识活动中被不断生产出来的。以该理论为基础对该作品的象征手法进行分析,具有较强的解释力。Nobel Laureate William Faulkner was one of the most important writers in Southern literature in the United States, primarily acclaimed for his novels and short stories. A Rose for Emily was one of his most classical short stories, which depicted the conflicts and clashes between the tumbling and rising social forces in the South, through the recount of the protagonist Emily’s life. Symbolism is a literary device that was central to the story. This article attempts to analyze "Emily’s house" as a symbol in the short story through the lens of "the production of space" theory put forward by Henri Lefebvre, which suggests that space is a social product, or a complex social construction based on values, and the social production of meanings.
