摘　　要：影响和制约我国公共图书馆社会形象的因素存在诸多方面,但其中最主要的问题在于公共图书馆数量少,馆藏数量与人口比例小,服务人数与读者人数比例小,图书馆空间环境狭窄,形象意识薄弱,馆员知识服务能力有限等.塑造公共图书馆良好社会形象必须具备五大保障,即资源保障、思想保障、知识保障、制度保障和环境保障.There are many factors which influence and restrict social images of the public library, but the major problem lies in ： a small number of the public library, small proportion of the number of books in the library to the large population and the librar- ians to the readers. Besides, the narrow spaces in the public library, the weak awareness of images and the limited knowledge and ability of the librarians are also problematic. In order to mold the public library five safeguards are required which contain guarantee in resources, ideology, knowledge, system and environment.
