摘　　要：历史唯物主义是爱国主义的哲学本原。通过阐明以往爱国主义(特别对爱国主义本质的定义)研究的片面性和不彻底性,从哲学的角度或高度去抽象和概括爱国主义的本质属性是关心维护和发展祖国利益,并论证了只有关心维护和发展祖国利益,才是爱国主义这一社会活动或社会现象的唯一特性。The philosophical foundation of patriotism is the historical materialism. Based upon the general survey of the previous incomplete studies on patriotism （particularly the nature of patriotism）, the paper holds that the essential nature of patriotism is the care about, protection, and development of the nation＇ s interest from the perspective of philosophy, which, furthermore, is the primary and unique feature of the social phenomenon known as patriotism
