摘 要:20世纪早期,"真正的女性"将女性禁棝于顺从听话的女儿,贤淑的妻子和牺牲的母亲。在《堕落之后》中,阿瑟.米勒描述了家庭主妇—母亲露丝为了做顺从女儿所受到的痛苦,同时也刻画了露丝为了挣脱贤妻良母的束缚而背叛丈夫和儿子的觉醒过程。通过家庭主妇—母亲追求自我,实现自己的抱负并满足自己需求的抗争,米勒证明自己完全有能力创造真实可信的、正面的、反抗的家庭主妇—母亲形象。In the early 20th century, the cult of "True Womanhood" confined women into submissive and docile daughters, loving wives and sacrificial mothers. In After the Fall, Arthur Miller describes house- wife-mother Rose' suffering of being a docile daughter, and simultaneously depicts Rose' awakening and betrayal against her husband and son in order to shake off the bound of the image of perfect wife and moth- er. Through housewife-mothers' self-pursuit and the rebellion of realizing their ambition and meeting their demands, Miller proves that he is capable of creating authentic, believable, positive and rebellious house- wife-mother figures.
