摘　　要：管理的定义很多。分析中外管理界专家学者对管理的定义,进一步认识管理的实质、管理包含的要素以及对管理进行定义的常用方法。管理定义随着管理实践的发展和人们认识的深入而不断发展,中外管理专家学者基本达成一致,认为管理的实质是过程,管理定义包含的因素会随着发展更加全面。管理没有一个统一的定义是现实的结果,管理定义的发展不是对前人管理定义的替代,而是继承与丰富。The definitions of management are various. Analyses of these definitions made by Chinese and overseas scholars contribute to the understanding of the essence and elements of management, and the common ways to define management. The definitions of management are an ever-evolving notion with the development of management practice and the further understanding of people. The essence of management lies in the process, which is an agreement from specialists and scholars of management at home and abroad. The elements of management will be more comprehensive with the time passing by. It is a realistic result that there is no agreed definition of management, and the definition is to inherit from and enrich the predecessors rather than to replace the old ones merely.
