摘　　要：英国当代女作家缪里尔·斯帕克从小说目的、功用、作者创作及读者接受几个层面来讨论叙事理论。为了达到寓教于乐的目的,她排斥在小说中投入情感,提出"嘲笑和反讽"的策略,并在作品中借用法国"新小说派"的艺术手法,使用非个性化的描述。她强调在创作小说时必须借鉴诗歌的形式、创意和注重神话在其中的作用,希望小说情节能够类似于神话,道出具有普遍意义的东西。依她所见,大部分人不会阅读或写作,真正的读者和诗人一样,都比较罕见。This paper explores Muriel Spark＇ s narrative theory, on the basis of her interviews, public speeches and novels, in relation to the purpose, function, production and reception of fiction. In order to achieve the aim of entertaining as well as en- lightening, Spark discards emotion in her fiction and advocates the strategy of satire and irony, makes use of the artistic de- vices facilitated by the French school of the nouveau roman, and employs the impersonal attitudes in descriptions. She lays emphasis on poetry and exhibits in her fiction its characteristics and originality. Besides, Spark expresses her passion for myth- ology in the fiction, hoping to voice universal truths. She supposes that nowadays few readers can read or write and real readers are as rare as poets.
