Objective To explore the impact of family environment factors on behavior problems of primary school students, and to provide theoretical evidence for developing intervention measures. Methods By using Achenbach Child Behavior Check List(CBCL) and Family Environment Scale-Chinese Version(FES-CV),480 parents of two primary schools were investigated.Univariate analysis and Logistic regression analysis were done to explore the determinants of behavior problems. Results The detection rate of children with behavior problems was 8.1%.Children's behavior problems were determined by mother's educational background, family pattern, average income of the family, and the changing frequency of living environment before 6-year-old.Children with the higher scores of cohesion,active-recreational orientation, organization, control and lower score of conflict showed fewer behavior problems. The higher the score of intellectual-cultural orientation, the fewer the girls' behavior problems.Conflict was the risk factor for boys' behavior problems(OR=1.371).As for girls' behavior problems, cohesion was the protective factor(OR=0.668),while control was the risk factors(OR=1.344).Conclusions Family environment factors have a significant influence on the incidence of pupils' behavior problems.
