摘  要:1633年,赫伯特成功地出版了宗教诗集《圣殿》,奠定了他成为英国文艺复兴时期玄学派诗歌代表的重要地位。赫伯特宗教诗歌中所蕴涵的虔诚的宗教思想赢得了各界人士的广泛赞誉。但是,大部分读者注意到的都是赫伯特诗歌中的宗教意象,很少有人意识到其中的园林意象。园林意象常与爱情主题联系在一起,但与其他园林诗人不同的是,赫伯特在园林诗歌中并没有描绘世俗园林带给人们的感官愉悦,而是通过园林意象表达了他对上帝虔诚的感恩之情。In 1633 Hebert published his The Temple, which laid a foundation for his status as one of the most important representatives of metaphysical poets in British Renaissance. The pious religious belief in his poetry is praised by people of different professions. However, most of the readers pay attention to the religious images in his poetry, ignoring his garden images. Garden images are often connected with love theme, but Herbert is different from other garden poets in the way he does not describe the sensory pleas- ures brought by the gardens, but expresses his gratitude towards God.
