摘　　要：契丹建国前的社会组织形式一直是学界讨论的重点,是由"部落"到"部落联盟"还是由"部落"到"酋邦",一直未有定论,现就所掌握资料进行分析。契丹建国前的社会组织形式与摩尔根记载的具有部落联盟典型特征的易洛魁部落具有不同的特点,应该属于"酋邦"而非"部落联盟"。The forms of Khitan’s social organization before the country’s founding has always been an important topic on which the academia discusses. There has not been an agreement whether the social organization changes from tribes to tribal alliance,or from tribes to chiefdom. Now let’s analyze it according to the materials we have obtained. The forms of Khitan’s social organization before it founded a country had some different features from the Iroquois tribes written by Morgan which had the typical characteristics of tribal alliance. So it should be chiefdom but not tribal alliance.
