In the Belarusian narrative in 1930s' Chinese literature, Belarusian beggars formed an at once common and u- nique collection of figures. Their westernized way of begging changed Chinese writers stereotype of beggars. When the problem with the dignity of beggars began to rise, Chinese writers began their reexamination of the dignity of man and the problem of citizenship as well. By studying the process of the construction of this narrative, we can find that Chinese writer have painted a "civilized" makeup over the miserable face of the Belarusian beggars. What is more, it is through this kind of "creative misreading" that Chinese writrrs expressed their unique modern imagination.
