The carbon storage an d carbon allocation patterns of natural and artificial Kandelia candel wetland ecosystem were investigated in north marginal region of mangrove. The results were as follows:(1)The ecosystem’s carbon stock(tree layer+understory+litter floor+soil)was about 221.8 t/hm in the K.candel natural forests, while that of the plantations was 154.6 t/hm2.We primarily concluded that the carbon stock in the natural forests was higher than that in the plantations;(2)The carbon pool in the soil was the main resource of ecosystem’s carbon storage of both K.candel natural forests and plantations, whose respective amounts were 87.0% and 93.5%.The carbon stock of tree layer was on the second place(natural forests: 12.8%;plantations: 6.5%)and the least contribution to the stock of carbon was attributed to the understory and litter floor, which was only 0.01% to 0.12%;(3)Compared with the soil carbon pools outside the forest, the superiority of wetland ecosystem of K.candel mangrove is obvious.
