摘 要:本研究旨在通过自定速阅读实验,考察主语优势和生命性在中国学习者实时加工英语关系从句中的作用。研究结果表明:当核心词为有生名词时,主语关系从句较之宾语关系从句更容易加工,后者在从句动词位置阅读更慢;而当核心词为无生名词时,主语关系从句加工优势消失,且在从句内名词位置阅读时间更长。这一实时加工难度模式与英语学习者语料库中的关系从句分布模式呼应一致,显示语言的理解和产出存在关联,从二语视角为基于经验的加工理论提供了证据,并暗示统计学习的潜在教学意义。The present study aims to explore subject preference and the effects of animacy in processing English relative clauses by Chinese EFL learners through a self-paced reading experiment. The results indicate that subject relative clauses (SRCs) are easier to process than object relative clauses (ORCs) when the head noun is animate, with the position of RC verb being read more slowly in the ORC condition. When the head noun is inanimate, however, subject processing preference disappears, with the position of RC-internal noun being read more slowly in the SRC condition. The processing difficulty pattern attested in the present experiment conforms to the distributional pattern observed in learner English corpora, showing the relationship between language production and comprehension. This study also provides evidence for experience-based theories from a second language perspective and suggests the potential significance of statistical learning in language teaching.
