In the inscriptions on Zongfu ding, wangzi refers to a surname, while Liegong (the Duke Lie) means the king of the Ue state. In addition, Zongfu means the wife of an aristrocracy who had the same surname as the Duke Lie, and Jixin refers to a woman who came from the Ji State and had the surname ofXin. Zongfu ding was made by Jixin with an auspicous wish of using it to protect the State Ji. The states Ue and Ji almost escaped scholarly attention in the past. Through the inscriptions on Zongfu ding, we know the location of Lie was in Lieren nearby Handan in Warring States Periods and the location of Ji was enfeoffed firstly in Hu county, Shaanxi province, and then moved to Linqiong Sichuan. The surnames of Lie and Ji were respectively Wangzi and Xin.
