To investigate the effects of Ovsynch protocol on intensive managing dairy farms in China, a total of 2 059 healthy lactating Chinese dairy cows were selected to compare under spontaneous estrus and Ovsynch protocol at Xijiao First Dairy Farm of Sanyuan Lvhe Dairy Cattle Centre in Beijing between January 2009 and November 2012. The dates of the first insemination after delivery of cows under spontaneous estrus and Ovsynch protocol were 66.19 days and 55.93 days (P〈0.05), conception rates of the first heat period were 35.71% and 33.18%(P〉0.05), insemination rates of 55th day after delivery were 12.37% and 80.91%(P〈0.05), calving intervals were 395.98days and 386.81days(P〈0.05), respectively. Our results demonstrated that application of Ovsynch protocol in Chinese intensive managing dairy farms brought forward the date of the first insemination after delivery, increased the insemination rate of 55a day after delivery, and shortened the calving interval dramatically; reduced the feeding and breeding management cost of dairy cows effectively.
