摘　　要：把中国古典名著《西游记》改编成热闹好看的、带有特技表演的百老汇式音乐剧，是一个很好的点子。OUTLINE/Monkey:Journey to the West,a Circus du Soleil-style musical created by Chinese stage director Chen Shi-Zheng,is the centerpiece of this summer's Lincoln Center Festival.Chen developed the musical, based on the Chinese classic,with England's indie rock musicians Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. Lincoln Center gave it an unprecedented run of 27 performances and aggressively marketed it to the Chinese community with the hope to attract a family audience.The production has imaginative costumes and attention-grabbing acrobatic displays,but is mired by a lack of narrative arc and dramatic tension.
