美国新闻专业主义观念发展史的评述与反思

摘　　要：本文基于美国新闻史来考察美国新闻专业主义观念的发展历史,并力图完整呈现如下过程:新闻工作如何成为一种"职业",从一种"职业"如何转变成为一门"专业",并不断追求"专业化"的目标,之后美国新闻工作者又是如何坚守与保护新闻"专业主义"观念。在此基础上,作者对美国新闻专业观念提出反思:一是新闻工作是否是一门专业?二是美国新闻专业主义观念的本质是什么?作者希望通过对这一发展过程的考察与研究,能够更加清楚地认识美国新闻专业主义观念的内涵及本质,从而更加客观地评价其价值和意义。Based on the history of American journalism,this paper explores the development of professionalism and shows the following picture:how does American journalism become an occupation,then develop into a profession and pursue the professionalization,and finally turn into the idea of professionalism held and protected consistently by American journalism practitioners? Two questions are then reconsidered:Is journalism a profession or not? What is the essence of American journalistic professionalism? This paper aims to help people to have a clear recognition towards the nature of journalism professionalism in the US and judge its value objectively.
