William Faulkner was regarded as one of the greatest contemporary writers in theUnited States. the bound and Fury, one of his most successful novels, was his favorite one. The novel focused on an over-prominent family-the Compsons, giving us a general description of decayed traditional aristocratic families. The image of the main charac-ters in the novel was a reflection of modern people' s spiritual degeneration. From the perspective of modernism, this essay will firstly analyze the historical background of the novel, trying to describe the distorted spiritual life of mod-em Southern Americans. By probing into the human nature of the main characters in the novel, this essay will come to the realistic meaning of human nature exploration of the great works.
