Objective: To explore the association between Mn-SOD gene V(16) A polymorphism and exercise capacity,in order to screen genetic markers of athletes early scientific selection. Methods: By adopting the method of PCR-RFLP to discuss the genotyping of 35 Han Chinese rowing, canoeing aerobic athletes, meanwhile testing their body composition, the related indexes of maximal aerobic capacity, physiological parameters and heart rate variability(HRV).Results: In the male athletes,Lean body mass was significantly higher in the A allele carriers compared to VV genotype carriers,Relative VO2max was very significantly greater in VV genotype carriers compared to A allele carriers. In the female athletes, fat percentage, body fat and body mass index were significantly higher in VV genotype carriers compared to A allele carriers. Conclusion: Mn-SOD gene V(16) A polymorphism was associated with part related indicators of athletic ability in rowing, canoeing aerobic athletes of Han nationality in China, but can be used as molecular biological markers of athletes selecting,it still need to further verification by increasing the sample size.
