The appearance of the American 9/11Novel arouses a broad concern and debate in the academic field. Many critics state that the 9/11Novel fails in effectively representing the 9/11event and American trauma. Some critics even call the possibility of trauma narratives into question. This shows that'trauma'has become one of the key words in the criticism of 9/11Novel.Thus,the study on trauma narratives will help people better understand and interpret 9/11 Novel. For this purpose, through the analysis of Foer's novel Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, the article explores the relationship between'unable to say'and'have to say,'and demonstrates the features of the paradox of trauma narratives.
