摘 要:目前,硬件磁盘冗余阵列凭借其优越的性能在存储系统中得到广泛应用。由于硬件成本较高,人们研发了软件仿真的磁盘冗余阵列以降低成本。然而,由于软件模拟对处理器占有率过高,软件RAID性能较差,不适合大数据流量的企业存储市场。应用Intel最新的CPU,软件RAID性能可以得到明显提升,将有助于软件RAID进入企业存储市场。甲骨文公司ZFS文件系统是目前流行的一种存储系统,提供软件RAID的最新功能。校验和是判断存储系统数据完整性的重要指标。ZFS支持使用SHA256的哈希算法来达到2-256的数据错误率,SHA256也是ZFS上数据去除冗余的基础。针对ZFS系统进行性能优化和检测。SHA256的哈希计算效率,在使用英特尔新一代WSM(Westmere)处理器之后可以比酷睿2系统提升约28%。Traditionally, Hardware RAID is widely used in storage systems for performance and Software RAID is developed for lower cost, lower performance segment, due to high CPU consumption. However, with Intel latest CPU, we have seen significant performance improvement that SW RAID has the potential to enter enterprise storage market.As Oracle ZFS is one of the popular storage systems with latest SW RAID features, we selected ZFS for performance tuning and benchmark.Checksum is critical to data integrity of storage system. ZFS uses SHA256 hashing algorism to ensure 2-256 data error rate. Also, SHA256 is fundamental tech- nology to ZFS data deduplication. With Intel WSM (Westmere) CPU, hash calculation of SHA256 can be accelerated by 28% com-pare to Core Duo systems.Modem day, cloud is becoming very hot topic. Cloud Storage has the same characteristics as cloud compu-ting in terms of agility, scalability, elasticity and multi-tenancy. We can see, SW RAID with improved performance, will become more and more popular in storage market especially in cloud storage.
