摘　　要：《荆棘鸟》是澳大利亚著名作家考琳·麦卡洛的长篇代表作之一,自1977年问世以后,不仅走红美国,还与《教父》同为美国十大畅销书。荆棘鸟被视为坚韧不拔、不惜一切代价追求梦想的化身。书中男性角色被进行了分类及建构,以突出其荆棘鸟特征。The Thorn Birds written by the famous Australian writer has become as popular as the best seller God Father in America since it was published in 1977. Thorn birds are the symbol of ones who are strong - minded and persistent dream - pursuers. The male characters are mainly classified and analyzed so as to reveal their thorn- bird- like features.
