本质主义、反本质主义与中国图书馆学研究——对中国图书馆学反本质主义批判的理性思考

摘　　要：中国图书馆学研究整体上并不存在"后现代"意义上的所谓"本质主义",但在一定程度上存在受意识形态和制度权力制约的把某种特定理论观点作为"中心话语"去贯彻的"本质化"意义上的"本质主义"。批判中国图书馆学研究存在"本质主义"思维的学者,其实是把图书馆学理论受时代和文化制约的"可变性"的历史状况,与人们借用"意识形态"、"权力"等对某种理论观点的"真理化"、"本质化"的超稳定干预相混淆了。而后现代主义学者之所以有这样的误判,除了与近代以来中国特殊的"学术与政治"的关系,以及研究者对后现代理论的机械套用有关之外,也与本质主义同意识形态具有诸多内在的一致性有关。可以认为,源于人文艺术领域的后现代主义理论,尽管它的某些观点可能对图书馆学研究有所启发,但由于它不是一种相对成熟的理论,也不适于当代中国图书馆和图书馆学的发展需要,因而不能作为中国图书馆学研究的"应然指向"。In theoretical research of library science in China as a whole, there has not been the ＂postmodem essentialism＂ based on the principle of reason, but there has been to some extent the ＂centralizing essentialism＂ dominated by political ideolo- gies and powers, which means that a particular point of view of library essence is taken as a central discourse or absolute truth in particular periods. The critics of essentialism in the research on library science in China actually confused the historical ＂varl- ability＂ of library science theory caused by the limit of the times and culture and the improper intervention of theoretical centrali- ration or essentialiration by the political ideology and power, and the reasons for this tnistake include the following three aspects： the special relationship between academic research and politic ideology in China in modem times, and the mechanical usage of the postmodem theory by library researchers as well as the internal consistency of essentialism to ideology. Finally, the author puts forward that the post-modernism originating from the humanities and arts cannot serve as the orientation of library science research despite its certain ideas are inspiring to library science research because it is not only imperfect but also unsuitable for the need of library and library science of contemporary China. 74 refs,
