摘　　要：特殊的社会环境及独特的人生经历,使得普利策一生都在理想与现实之间徘徊。他总想努力去调和二者,但矛盾与冲突、现实与愿望的背离时刻在他身上体现。具体表现为:作为担负社会责任的新闻理想与作为商业企业的现实之间利益的冲突,办报宗旨与经营新闻方式之间的冲突,政治"中立"与党派偏见之间的冲突。究其原因:一是由新闻业本身的性质决定;二是普利策作为"故事"理念取向的报业运营方法所致;三是普利策曲折的身世和丰富的成长经历使然。The Special social environment he lived in and his unique life experiences make Pulitzer hovering between ideal and reality all his life though he had been trying to reconcile them.The conflicts between social responsibility and commercial interests,the contractions between his principles of running a paper and the ways of managing news,the disputes between political neutrality and the party preferences have always been unavoidable due to the nature of journalism,Pulitzer＇s story-oriented principle of operating the press as well as Pulitzer＇s complicated life experience.
