摘　　要：牵动大学中枢神经的是文化传承创新,有了这一点,大学才能真正地做到人才培养、科学研究与服务社会,故称其为大学的掩体。对其掩体内涵的认识,不能脱离它的主体作抽象的判断。它本身具有主体性的相对尺度,即文化传承创新首先是对作为主体过程和方式的文化与对作为主体权利和责任的文化的传承与创新,进而驱动大学探索普遍真理、化解文化冲突,构建和谐社会,从而也决定着大学主体的生存样式。因此,当目前中国大学要着手建立新的大学文化之时,不能不正视文化揶揄导致文化传承创新的诸多难处,并澄清处于文化传承创新语境中大学发展的终极使命,塑造积极而正面的中国人的集体人格,这是事关高等教育强国目标实现的根本问题。The core of the university is its cuhural inheritance and innovation, with which a universi- ty can be a place to cultivate talented persons, to implement scientific research and to serve the society, which combine to be regarded as University covering. In recognizing its denotation, we shouldn＇t make an abstract judgment by neglecting its function. Its function has its relative range, i. e. cultural inherit- ance and innovation should first of all be the inheritance and innovation of the culture of the process and means of being functional, and of the culture of responsibility and obligation of being functional, and fur- ther more it will promote the university probing universal truth, dissolving cultural conflicts, and con- structing harmonious society as well as deciding existing method of university function. Thus, at present, when the Chinese universities start establishing university culture, we should pay attention to the cultural embarrassment, which brings about many difficulties in cuhural inheritance and innovation. We should make clear of ultimate mission of university development in the background of cultural inheritance and in- novation. And we should cultivate active and positive Chinese collective personality. It is fundamental in connection with realizing the dream of making a powerful country by higher education.
