Objective: This review was aimed to evaluate the relationship between angiotension-converting enzyme (ACE) gene polymorphism and susceptibility to Alzheimer disease (AD) among the Chinese popu- lation. Methods: We searched MEDLINE, Coehrane library, CBM, CNKI, WANFANG, VIP and other e- lectronic database for case-control studies that discuss the relationship between ACE gene insertion (I)/de- letion (D) polymorphism and AD in Chinese population. Meta-analyses were conducted using Revman 5.1 software. Results: We finally included 7 studies. The results of recta-analysis did not find that the ACE gene I/D polymorphism increased risk of AD in general population. The analysis of the subgroup showed that, Han Chinese population in the mainland, carrying the I allele and II genotype had higher risk of AD, the pooled OR values of AD with I allele and II genotype were 1. 66[95%CI(1.31, 2.12) and 2.17[95%CI (1.54, 3.05). Conclusion: ACE gene I/D polymorphism is associated with the susceptibility to AD in the mainland Han population.
