Environmental Outsourcing and Trade Competitiveness of China's Manufacturing Industry: A Study based on the Methodology of Dynamic Panel Data GMM on the Micro Trade Data

摘  要:本文基于Hummls的"垂直分工指数"建立环境外包污染指数(PEOI),运用投入产出法和微观贸易数据定量测定了外包对中国制造业造成的污染排放数量,并进一步通过面板数据回归模型检验了环境外包与中国制造业贸易竞争力的关系。结果显示:首先,外包对中国制造业各行业造成的污染排放逐年下降,且外包对高技术含量的加工制造业造成的污染排放较低,而对能源、矿产和化工原材料的加工制造业造成的污染排放较多。其次,环境外包污染指数与中国制造业贸易竞争指数存在显著的负相关关系,表明承接国际外包业务有利于中国制造业的清洁增长。最后,提高资本和科技投入是促进中国制造业贸易竞争力提升的有效途径。Based on Hummls' research on the share of vertical specialization,this paper establishes Pollution of Environmental Outsourcing Index( PEOI),and calculates the pollution emissions of outsourcing to China's manufacturing industry by using inputoutput method and micro trade data. Furthermore,it tests the relationship between environmental outsourcing and trade competitiveness through the methodology of panel data regression. The results show that: First,the pollution emissions of outsourcing to China's manufacturing industry are gradually decreased. Pollution emissions caused by outsourcing are little in high-tech industries and large in the industries of processing materials of energy,mine and chemicals. Secondly,the significant negative relations between PEOI and TCI indicate that the international outsourcing can boost the clean growth of China's manufacturing industry. Finally,enhancing capital and technology input is an effective way to improve the trade competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry.
