摘  要:The end-Permian mass extinction that happened about 252 million years ago is the most severe bioloigcal extinction during the Earth history.An international group of scientists led by palaeontologist Shen Shuzhong of Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology,Chinese Academy of Sciences carried out intensive multidisciplinary studies on tens of marine and terrestrial Permian-Triassic boundary sections in South China and Tibet.They reported on December 9,2011 on Science that both the marine and terrestrial ecosystems collapsed simultaneously at about 252.3 million years ago and the entire extinction event lasted no more than 200,000 years.The research group also considered that a massive release of thermo-The end Permian mass extinction that happened about 252 million years ago is the most severe bi- oloigcal extinction during the Earth history.
