摘　　要：近现代中国高等教育是中华民族高教发展史上最辉煌的时期,这一时期高等教育的发展都是与国家、民族的命运相联系,映射了高等教育所肩负的历史使命。依据重大历史事件来划分,这一时期主要包括3个阶段:从辛亥革命到新中国成立之前的高教救国;从新中国成立到改革开放之前的高教护国;从改革开放到新时期改革的高教强国,都深深地蕴含着高等教育的历史使命感。深入研究这一时期的高等教育历史使命,将对今后高等教育发展起到十分有益的启示。The modem Chinese higher education is the golden age of the national higher education histo ry, the period of the development of higher education is connected with nation and national fate, which re fleets the historical mission shouldered by higher education. According to major historical events, this period mainly consists of three phases： Higher education saves the nation from the revolution of 1911 to the founding of new China; Higher education protects nation from the founding of new China to reform and opening up; Higher education power nation from reform and opening up to the reform in new period, all deeply contain the historical mission of higher education. Therefore, deeply researching on the history mission of higher education in this period will play a beneficial enlightenment for the future development of higher education.
