摘　　要：本文在综述国内外关于博士生课程设置、学位论文评估研究的基础上,阐释了英语专业博士生的学术能力内涵,分析了加拿大较具代表性的4所院校的英语专业博士生课程设置与学位论文评估方式,并探讨了其课程学习、论文要求对我国外语专业博士生学术能力发展的启示。On the basis of reviewing the studies concerning curriculum development and dissertation evaluation for English doctoral candidates both at home and abroad, this paper explains the connotation of doctoral candidates＇ aca- demic competence, and analyzes 4 representative English doctoral programs in Canada. It further discusses the impli- cations conveyed by the curriculum development and dissertation requirements in Canada for the development of doc- toral candidates＇ academic competence in China.
