摘　　要：伊沛霞《早期中華帝國的貴族家庭——博陵崔氏個案研究》一書的出版與1970年代以來美國漢學社會史研究興起的風氣密切相關,作者一方面發展了日本學者士族個案研究的傳統,另一方面化用西方社會學理論,並較爲充分地利用了考古報告、墓誌等出土資料,試圖通過家族的個案研究,突破王朝史的框架,展現秦漢至隋唐中國社會的變遷。儘管該書在理論預設、史料運用等方面尚有商榷的餘地,但在當時無疑是一部"預流"之作,並在中、日兩國學界都引起了反響。本文借助對該書的討論,回顧了三十餘年來中文世界士族研究的演進脈絡,分析得失,進而展望士族研究重新出發的前景與可能。The Publication of Patricia Buckley Ebrey's The Aristocratic Family of Early Imperial China: A Case Study of the Po-ling Ts'ui Family was closely connected with the rise of the fever on social history studies in Sinology in the United States in the 1970s. Ebrey, on the one hand,developed the tradition of case studies on aristocratic families pioneered by the Japanese scholars; on the other hand, applying Western theories of sociology,optimized newly discovered archival materials like archeological excavation reports and epitaphs. Ebrey tried to breach the traditional framework of history of the empires by focusing on cases of the families,and thus present social transition in early and medieval China. Although details are to be criticized and discussed in its research hypothesis and application of historical and archival materials,the book was no doubt a prologue of a new tradition at that time,and was discussed among scholars in China and Japan. This article,therefore,with a focus on a discussion on the Po-ling Ts'ui Family,reviews the development of studies of aristocratic family in Chinese language,analyzing their contributions and imperfectness,and suggests the possibility and prospects of a new march of this theme.
