Three single factorial controlled experiments( soil types, water content and salinity) were conducted to analyze the relationship between the adventitious buds, root suckers and soil environment in Ejina oasis. Soil types, water content and salinity are the limiting factors to the occurrence of root suckers, respectively. The soil type tests showed that spot maximum and bud maximum number of root segments in sand soil are significantly different from those in the forest soils and bank soil. Furthermore, new fine root can grow under the condition of the sand soil. When the soil content reaches a certain value, the soil salt content is low,Populus euphratica root sucker can survive, the spot maximum number and bud maximum quantity in the conditions of 15% water content are significantly higher than the rest of the groups, and the root sucker elongation period lasts maximum of 13 cycles( i. e.,39 days) and reaches the maximum total length in the third period( 9 days). Salinity test shows that root segments have the most number of spot maximum and bud maximum when the conductivity is 0. 9-1. 1 S·m-1. With the increasing of the soil salinity, the total length per period elongation time increases.
