城市平民“囚徒”的困惑——评索尔·贝娄《晃来晃去的人》中的城市书写

摘　　要：《晃来晃去的人》是美国犹太小说家索尔·贝娄的第一部小说，小说以日记体的形式展开，讲述了一个有名无姓且尚未取得正式国籍的历史系毕业青年约瑟夫为等待参军而辞去旅游局的工作，在家一直等待部队招兵的消息。通过在城市中的行走，包括以房间为主的私人空间以及以街道和其他城市景观为主的公共空间中，约瑟夫越发觉得所谓的自由令他窒息难耐。索尔·贝娄以城市“囚徒”的视角隐喻出犹太人在现代城市下的历史重负以及在城市漫游下的精神悬浮状态。Dangling Man is the first novel of Saul Bellow. Taking the form of journal,it depicts a young Jewish man Joseph, without clear surname and nationality, waiting to be enlisted in the army after he quitted his job in the travel agency. By walking in the city （ the private space as room and the public space as streets and other landscapes ）, Joseph suffocated from the so-called freedom. From the perspective of city prisoner, Joseph in case, Bellow showed metaphorically the historical burden loaded on the Jewish people, and the dangling spiritual status of the Jewish citizens.
