摘　　要：弗兰克·诺里斯在"小麦史诗"中对美国垄断资本主义发展初期的小麦生产、运输和销售中所发生的经济事件作了真实记录,对经济事件引起美国人在人生观和价值观上的巨大转变和反映该时期美国经济价值体系中货币交换与博弈生存进行了客观描写。诺里斯在小说创作上继承并发扬了美国小说家对社会重大事件特别是经济事件及其影响给予关注和前瞻的传统,进而深刻反思了他所处时代美国人的价值取向。In the Epic of Wheat, Frank Norris truly recorded the economic events concerning the produc- tion, transportation and marketing of wheat at the beginning of American monopoly capitalism. He also objectively described the great change of America＇s outlook on life and value, currency exchange and game of life in American economy and value system at that period as well. Frank Norris inherited and carried forward the tradition of American novelists in his novel writing, giving attention and forward-looking to the influential social events, economic ones in particular. Furthermore, he made deep reflections on American value orientation in his times.
