摘　　要：将"历史"与"语言"并重,构建一个有组织的研究机构的思想认识,最早可以追溯至傅斯年的大学时代。在留学英、德期间,傅氏虽醉心于自然科学知识,但他对于文史之学始终关注与爱好,且成为一股潜流蕴涵在脑际。这股思想潜流的实践便是,他先后创办了中山大学的语言历史学研究所和中央研究院的历史语言研究所,并设想将两个研究所同时运作,但实际困境使他最终放弃中山大学的语史所,而专注于中研院史语所的发展。他创办史语所之缘由,一方面是要为中国的文史之学寻找新的发展路径,另一方面是要将中国史学推向世界,在国际上取得话语权。When he was at college, Fu Sinian began to think of an organized research institute to lay equal emphasis on ＂history＂ and ＂language＂. During his study in the UK and Germany, although he was addicted to natural sciences, he had always been concerned for literature and history, an undercurrent in his mind. In practice, he established Institute of Language and History, first in Sun Yatsen University and then in Academic Sinica. He tried but failed to operate the two institutes at the same time for many difficulties in practice. Instead, he is concentrated on Institute of History and Language of Academic Sinica. One reason for his founding of Institute of History and Language was to seek a new development path for the study of Chinese history and language. The other is to promote the Chinese history to the world to obtain the right to speak in the international arena.
