摘　　要：《毕司沃斯先生的房子》是后殖民文学作家V·S·奈保尔的扛鼎之作,书中主人公毕司沃斯先生的身边有一大批和其出身类似的印裔特立尼达人,作家刻画主人公坎坷一生的同时也真实生动地描写了这些印裔移民的生存状态,移民们为了摆脱身份危机,消解无根性,尝试了不同的道路,有人回归传统宗教,有人模仿西方文化,但最终都归于失败。通过塑造这些次要人物,奈保尔进一步阐明了他对后殖民背景下文化身份问题的悲观态度,即印裔特立尼达人不可能获取明确的、独立的文化身份。A House for Mr. Biswas is the most important masterpiece of V. S. Naipaul, who is labeled as a post-colonial writer. In the novel, Naipaul not only describes Mr. Biswas＇ frustrating life, but also pictures the living state of Indian community in Trinidad. These immigrants try different ways to shake off the identity crisis and dispel their rootlessness. However, all of their attempts turn into failure finally. Through molding these minor characters, Naipaul restates his pes- simistic viewpoint toward cultural identity under the post-colonial context.
