摘　　要：美国外交战略的一个基本理念就是实用主义,而文艺复兴时期的思想大师尼科洛·马基雅维利则对实用主义理论作了最佳阐释。马基雅维利在其代表作《君主论》中提出的性恶论、外交权术、国家利益至上等现实主义国际政治思想,被称为"马基雅维利主义"。深刻领会马基雅维利的实用主义政治思想,研究被现代美国人奉为行动圭臬的实用主义外交理念,对于我们如何应对美国亚太外交政策具有重大的现实意义。Pragmatism is a basic philosophy in the US foreign policy. Niccolo Machiavelli, a master in the Renaissance, best illus- trated the theory of pragmatism. Machiavellim proposed realism in international political thoughts in his masterpiece of The Prince, such as theories of evil human nature, national interest first, realpolitik, diplomatic strategy and so on, which is called Machiavellianism. It is important for us to profoundly understand and study the Machiavellim＇ s thought of prag- matism and foreign philosophy of pragmatism regarded as concept by American. Fully understanding US realism is of great practical significance to how to deal with US Asia - pacific policy for Chinese.
