摘　　要：在二十世纪末中国书院研究勃兴的过程中,陈谷嘉先生发挥了积极的推动作用。他主持和组织了全国规模最大的书院文献资料的搜集整理工作,为书院研究的兴起和书院学的建立奠定了厚实的资料基础;探讨书院研究理论,提出了书院学的概念,对书院的定义进行了辨析和论述;打破了以往教育史研究视角的局限,将书院置于社会文化的大背景下进行研究,拓展了研究的视野和方法;梳理以书院制度为主线的书院发展历史,深入研究书院的德育教育等问题,提升了书院学研究的理论水平;出版了书院研究的重要著作;积极探索传统书院现代化的道路,使古老的岳麓书院成为现代学术研究和人材培养的重要基地以及全国书院研究的中心。Mr Chen Gu-jia played an active role in promoting the study of Chinese Academy＇ s flourish in the end of the 20th century . He laid a solid ground for this filed by hosting and organizing the ever largest size of Chinese Academy documents＇ collection and reorganization .He broke education history＇ s convention by widening the scope of Academy＇ s research from different perspectives .He focused on the Academy system , sorted out, analyzed both its nature and styles, deepened the study of Academy, elevated its level, published many important monographs. As the dean of Yuelu Academy, he transformed this ancient academy into a modern academic institution, a base for cultivating talents and national center of Academy Research .
