摘　　要：刘向的《列女传》现存104篇,每篇的篇题皆为四字格,这在以前的古书上是没有出现过的。通过分析《列女传》的篇题可以发现,篇题的订立几乎都与揭示作品内容或明确主旨有密切关联,作者在保证篇题形式齐整美观的同时又极大地发挥了篇题的概括功用。但是,恒定的篇题字数有时也制约了立题的完整性与准确性,这应该是后世较少出现篇题齐整的著作的一个重要原因。The existing Biographies of Women In Ancient China by Liu Xiang consists of 104 volumes. In each volume the title of every article has four characters, which is not seen in previous books. Through the analysis of all the four - character titles it is found that the choice of nearly every title is closely related to revealing the con- tent or the theme of the article ; the author can ensure the title ＇ s neat and beauty, as well as its function of summa- rizing. However, the constant number of title words sometimes restricts the title ＇ s integrity and accuracy, which must be an important reason why there are less works with neat titles in later a^es.
